Our Story

We sweat
every detail

Byteframe is a small, founder-led studio in Nairobi. We build custom digital products for businesses that know what good looks like and refuse to settle for anything less.

Where We Came From

Built from a frustration
with the ordinary

Byteframe was born from a simple observation: too many Kenyan businesses were being handed generic, copy-paste digital products by agencies that treated every project the same.

We started Byteframe because we believed the businesses of East Africa deserved better: software built specifically for them, not adapted from a template someone else already sold to five other companies.

From day one, we made a deliberate choice to stay small. Not because we can't grow, but because growing too fast is how studios lose the thing that makes them worth hiring. Every project we take on gets the founders' full attention, not delegated to a junior developer three layers removed from the people who pitched you.

Why It Matters

Small isn't a limitation.
It's the whole point.

When your studio is two people who built it from nothing, "good enough" is a phrase that doesn't exist in their vocabulary.

02

You're talking to the builders

No account managers, no middle tier. When you have a question or a change, you're speaking directly with the people whose hands are in the code.

03

Decisions backed by craft, not process

In a large studio, decisions go through committees and sign-off chains. We make the right call directly, informed by experience rather than procedure.

04

Reputation is everything to us

For a small firm, a single unsatisfied client is a problem worth losing sleep over. That asymmetry works in your favour: we have every reason to get it right.

05

The brief shapes everything

We don't have a default template we adapt for every client. Your project starts from scratch, designed around your actual goals, audience, and context.

06

Handed over, fully documented

When we're done, we leave. Cleanly. Every credential, decision, and line of code is documented and yours, with no dependency on us to keep the lights on.

How We Think

Precision is a habit,
not an occasion

We bring the same rigour to a single landing page as we do to a full SaaS platform. Not because we're slow, but because the quality of the small things predicts the quality of the big ones.

Every pixel in our interfaces is intentional. Every database schema is designed for what your product will need two years from now, not just today. Every piece of copy we write earns its place or it doesn't make the cut.

That's not perfectionism for its own sake. It's the recognition that the things clients notice last are the ones users notice first: the load time, the button that's slightly off-centre, the form that doesn't validate properly on mobile. We catch those before you do.

Design that earns trust

Consistent spacing, intentional hierarchy, accessibility built in from the start and not retrofitted at the end.

Code that's meant to be maintained

Clean architecture with clear naming, minimal dependencies, and logic that another developer can understand without a tutorial.

Performance as a feature

Speed is not an afterthought. Every site we ship is optimised for real-world conditions, including low-bandwidth connections.

Copy that does its job

Words in an interface either help users or create friction. We write interfaces that guide people, not confuse them.

Security by default

Input validation, safe defaults, principle of least privilege. Baked into how we build everything, not added later.

The People

The two people
accountable for your project

No layers. No account managers. Just two founders who built this company and personally deliver every project.

Joseph Ng'era

Co-Founder · Backend Developer
Nairobi, Kenya

Joseph is the engineer who makes sure everything holds together: reliably, securely, and at scale. He architects the systems and APIs that power Byteframe's products, with a relentless focus on clean, maintainable code that doesn't create new problems down the line.

The details that often get skimmed over, error handling, edge-case validation, database indexing, API rate limiting, are the ones Joseph thinks about hardest. Not because clients ask for them, but because he knows that's where brittle systems crack under real-world load.

He takes ownership seriously. When Joseph builds something, it's built to last: documented, tested, and handed over in a state the client can actually understand and extend without calling us back to explain it.

Wilfred Gweth

Co-Founder · Lead Designer & Front-End
Nairobi, Kenya

Wilfred is the creative force behind every interface Byteframe ships. He believes that good design isn't decoration. It's the difference between a product people trust and one they abandon after ten seconds. Every layout, every component, every interaction is deliberate.

His front-end work goes beyond aesthetics. He builds interfaces that are fast, accessible, and grounded in how real users actually think, so clients get something that performs as well as it looks. He's particularly attentive to the edge cases that most developers ignore: the awkward screen sizes, the intermittent connections, the user who does something nobody expected.

When Wilfred reviews a design, the question he always comes back to is: does every part of this earn its place? If the answer isn't yes, it doesn't ship.
